Adoption PoliciesVeterinary careAdopters are required to take their new dog to a veterinarian within two weeks of adoption for the dog's first wellness checkup. Home visitAdopters permit a Jake's Wish representative to inspect where the dog lives, if requested. Abide by pet-related policies and lawsAdopter agrees to obey all applicable laws governing licenses, control, and custody of the dog. This includes, but is not limited to licensing your dog in the city or county where you live, not living in a residence with a “no pets” policy or disregarding pet restrictions like breed, weight, or number of pets. Spay/neuterJake’s Wish Dog Rescue requires all of our rescue dogs to be spayed or neutered prior to adoption. In the event of special medical circumstances for an individual dog, an adoption will be completed with the contingency that the dog will be spayed or neutered by a Jake’s Wish-approved veterinarian within a specified time frame. Spaying and neutering pets is vital to helping reduce animal homelessness. ReturnsIf you’re having issues with a dog you’ve adopted from Jake’s Wish, please contact us immediately. Any dog adopted through our organization must be returned to us if the dog needs to be re-homed. This applies if you are not able to care for the dog at any time, be it 10 days or 10 years after adoption. Once a Jake’s Wish dog, always a Jake’s Wish dog. Adoption fees are not refundable. If the dog has been in your care for more than a week, we may ask that you foster the dog until another foster home or adopter can be found. |
